ChelPipe Supplies 10,000 Tonnes of Pipes for “Power of Siberia”

ChelPipe Group (“ChelPipe” or “the Group”) has delivered the first 10,000 tonnes of large-diameter pipes (LDP) for Gazprom’s “Power of Siberia” project.

The pipes have a diameter of 1,420 mm, a wall thickness of 21.7 mm, an internal smooth coating and an external anti-corrosion coating; are designed to handle 9.8 MPa of pressure; and are made of K60-grade steel from Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel and Cherepovets Steel Mill (part of Severstal). All of the order was produced in the Vysota 239 mill at the Chelyabinsk Pipe plant.

“In accordance with the tender won in June 2013, the total order is for more than 30,000 tonnes, and part of it will be delivered in September-October,” said ChelPipe CEO Vitaly Sadykov. “The Group plans to take part in further tenders to supply pipes and connectors for the ‘Power of Siberia’.”

One difficulty in fulfilling such an order is delivering 10,000 tonnes of LDP simultaneously. To do this, ChelPipe used more than 270 special railcars for delivering pipes and devised an optimal logistical plan.
