ChelPipe Supplies Pipes With Anti-Corrosive Cover for Southern Corridor

The Vysota 239 plant at the Chelyabinsk Pipe production facility has supplied Gazprom with 1,828 tonnes of large-diameter pipes (LDP) with a 6-mm polypropylene anti-corrosion cover for the first stage of the Southern Corridor gas pipeline. The shipment included both 1,420-mm and 720-mm pipes.

The polypropylene cover is designed to protect pipes in extreme conditions: on sea beds, in directional drilling, and in temperatures of up to 110 °C.

In 2012-13, ChelPipe Group (“ChelPipe” or “the Group”) supplied 138 thousand tonnes of LDP for Southern Corridor. In the first half of 2014, it supplied 27 thousand tonnes, and there are plans to deliver another 73 thousand tonnes before the year-end. SOT, part of Rimera, is also supplying Gazprom’s Southern Corridor and South Stream projects. In 2013, it delivered 406 tonnes of pipeline elbows and 233 tonnes of connectors, respectively.
