ChelPipe Takes Part in Transneft Trunkline Project

The Chelyabinsk Pipe plant, part of ChelPipe Group will supply Transneft with large-diameter pipes (LDP) for the construction of the “Kuyumba — Taishet” oil trunkline in the first half of 2014.

LDP with diameters of 530 mm and 720 mm, a wall thickness of 8-12 mm, and external anti-corrosion coating made of cold-resistant K56-grade steel have been manufactured to Transneft’s specifications. The “Kuyumba — Taishet” project needs 92,000 tonnes of pipes, of which the Chelyabinsk Pipe plant will supply 45,000 tonnes. At present, around 15,000 tonnes of LDP have been shipped to Transneft.

ChelPipe and Transneft have worked together extensively on pipeline projects, such as “Eastern Siberia — Pacific Ocean-2”, the Baltic Pipeline System 2 and “Purpe — Samotlor”. In 2013, ChelPipe completed shipments of LDP and connectors for “Zapolyarye — Purpe”. The “Kuyumba — Taishet” pipeline has a total length of 719 km and will cross the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk regions. It will transport oil from the Kuyumbinskoye and Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye fields to the “Eastern Siberia — Pacific Ocean” system.
