United Metallurgical Company (OMK Closed Joint Stock Company, based in Moscow) shipped the first batch of pipes from Rostov-on-Don to the Bulgarian port of Burgas over the weekend. The pipes will be used to construct the first branch of the South Stream gas pipeline’s offshore segment.

OMK will deliver over 600 km of pipes, or 35% of the total length, to construct the first and second branches of South Stream’s offshore segment. The pipes, which are 813 mm in diameter and have 39 mm thick walls, are manufactured according to the DNV-OSF101 (2010) standard and South Stream Transport’s technical requirements.
